Post 5 - Hollow Vessels

Image
Hollow Vessels The creation of hollow vessels for post 5 was a process quite enjoyable for me. After learning the ways of their creation from the video provided, I was able to come up with 14 different objects using a variety of different techniques.  My favorite was the simple "loft" tool, through which I could connect two fun shapes together, to form an exciting solid which I then capped, exploded, and took the top off of.   Vessel 1 Vessel 2 Vessel 3 Vessel 4 Vessel 5 Vessel 6 Vessel 7 Vessel 8 Vessel 9 Vessel 10 Vessel 11 Vessel 12 Vessel 13 Vessel 14 Although many of the shapes created were interesting, I especially enjoyed the ones where I rotated my lines by 90/180 degrees. Final Work  To makes things easier, in the creation process each of my shapes were assigned their own layer with a differet colour. This proved to be especially helpful when joining/exploding my vessels. To finalize all of my shapes and give them a sense of unity, I made sure to rende...

Post 4 - Rings

Image
Ring Assignment  Sometimes we just have to continue working on an issue until we figure it out. - That is the biggest lesson I learned throughout the course of this project. Due to several personal and family matters, I missed quite a few classes and set myself behind. Because of this, I heavily struggled with the key aspect of this assignment: extrusion.   When I started my rings, I had very little concept of line alignment. I hardly understood the trimming and splitting of lines and could not figure out how to get my tools to work the way I wanted them to.  Originally, I failed to recognize the importance of a clean shape, fruitlessly trying to figure out why my extrusions came out as tall lines, rather than solid shapes. After closely following the videos provided on mosaic, however, along with my own set of experiments, I was able to overcome these obstacles, understanding my mistakes and learning from them, which made the process easier.  After tireless eff...

Learning to Extrude - (Bonus)

Image
Bonus Post - Learning to Extrude. This post is only meant to track my own progress with extrusion.   Because I found myself running into issues with extrusion during my ring assignment, I decided to experiment on my own account with the video provided. I began by creating a bunch of random shapes, following closely to the video from Mosaic. I made several various shapes playing with both straight line and curves, among which was an intentional mushroom, cat, and heart, I continued on with the video, and ended up extruding first the shapes one by one, then all in one go. Overall, I found that this process was far easier than I thought or expected it to be. I have come to the conclusion that my issues stemmed from my lines not connecting properly and intersecting with one another.   The above rendered shapes are the fruits of my exploration. This experiment was successful and very helpful, providing me with the knowledge I needed to extrude my rings.

Post 3 - Remix Project Final

Image
Finished Work Out of my 10 sketches, I ended up going with the World Cup concept, for the sake of memory and this beautiful event.  I decided to attempt creating something that would almost look like a 'screenshot' from an advertisement in the TV. (as if the balls were set in motion and orbiting around the Trophy) Knowing the result of this event, I made a few adjustments to my original idea.  At first, (although it pained me to do so) I only added a mini figure of Leonel Messi standing at the top of the trophy, since he largely viewed as the player who led the Argentinian team to victory in 2023. I then decided to add a pair of hands that I found, placing them as if they were grabbing the cup.  To produce my final result, I rendered both the trophy and the figure Metal/Gold. The Floating balls are made in Plastic and the Blue orbs and green Torus' are colored using Emission. Lastly, the hands were done in Plaster to create a 'skin-line' texture. In the end, I dec...
